All Stars are back!
Featuring a line-up of legendary recording artists and musicians from the Who’s Who of Rock and Pop. The SAS Band is the ultimate all-star band!
On 25th May, Spike Edney’s SAS Band (a.k.a. Spike’s All Stars) will return to the “Concert At The Kings” stage for another night of explosive music for real music lovers, in aid of Rock Against Cancer.
Spike Edney is one of the most respected and versatile session musicians and musical directors in the business. In addition to being legendary rock band Queen’s musical director and keyboard player since 1984, British multi-instrumentalist Spike Edney has toured, recorded and performed with the living and late legends of our time. It is through his extensive network of musician friends he will call upon to put together his all star line-up for this special performance.
Last year’s SAS Band line-up featured Brian May of Queen performing with Kerry Ellis, Midge Ure (Ultravox), Tom Robinson (TRB – The Tom Robinson Band), Pattie Russo (Meatloaf), soul sensation Madeline Bell (Blue Mink) and Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann’s Earth Band), along with Mike & The Mechanics, The Sweet, The Strawbs and The Dave Kelly Blues Band. Tom Jones’ guitarist, Jamie Moses, who will be joining Spike’s All-Stars again this year said “The SAS Band and myself were proud to be a part of the very first Concert at the Kings and are looking forward to returning again this year. I’ve no doubt Concert At The Kings will be a regular fixture and a ‘must see’ in the UK rock/festival calendar. It was a blast from where I was standing and I’m told it was even better for those not on the stage”. Tom Robinson said “Concert At The Kings was a
wonderful way to spend an afternoon and evening. Not only a fantastic and appreciative crowd, family-friendly atmosphere and wide range of music on offer, but a first rate technical spec and crew. All in all, Concert At The Kings was a hugely enjoyable way for audience and performers alike to support this vital charity.”
Other artists and musicians who have performed with The SAS Band to date are part of an ever growing collection of some of the world’s greatest Rock and Pop performers and include such names as Roger Daltrey, Bruce Dickinson, Paloma Faith, Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis, Annie Lennox, The Sugababes, Roy Wood, Chaka Khan, Lionel Richie, Roger Taylor, Anastascia, Gary Brooker, Paul Young, Marti Pellow, Carl Barat, Paul Rodgers, Mark, King, Jack Bruce, Tony Hadley, Bob Geldof, Lulu, Suggs, Errol Brown, Amy Winehouse, Mel C, Graham Gouldman, Kiki Dee, Leo Sayer, Toyah Willcox and Fish, to name a few.
