The Lansdowne Arms holiday golf society decided to do something’s different during the recent Christmas holidays, as musicians themselves , locals Chris Burrows and Chris McCormack organised a charity golf day in aid of rock against cancer.
Chris said, “We have always enjoyed attending concert at the Kings, so thought it would be good to support the charity side of concert which had raised over £170,000 over the last six years, supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, Above & Beyond, Hope for Tomorrow, Cancer Research and Teenage Cancer Trust.
“Thirty two golfers took part in a fun Texas scramble format, with the winning team captained by Luke Gorman. We all then retired to the Lansdowne Arms for a superb afternoon curry and charity auction, where sixteen lots had been donated, ranging from a set of drum sticks from the band Squeeze, a technical golf lesson from Bowood golf professional, Ben Emerson, Fast Rib rides, European flights, a Portugal villa for a week, and a festival set by local blues band Sloetrain. All in all the event raised £1,744.”
Thanks to all involved from the Concert at the Kings team and a big thank you from the charities that will benefit from this wonderful gesture.
